Positioning Singapore As The Leading International Centre In Asia For Accountancy Services And Professionals

The Ministry of Finance today named the members appointed to the Committee to Develop the Accountancy Sector (CDAS). The Committee has been set up to undertake a fundamental review of the accountancy sector, with the aim of positioning Singapore as the leading international centre in Asia for accountancy services and professionals.

The members of the CDAS comprise leading members of the accounting profession, the business community, academia and the public sector (see Appendix (icon_pdf27 KB)for a list of the members). It will be headed by Mr Bobby Chin, currently Chairman of the Tote Board (Singapore Totalisator Board) and formerly Managing Partner of one of the leading accounting practices in Singapore.

Said Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Finance, "The CDAS will undertake a fundamental review of the accountancy sector in Singapore. I expect its recommendations will chart the future directions for the sector, consistent with our goal of enhancing Singapore's role as a leading international financial and business hub."
