Minister For Finance To Attend Annual World Bank/International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings

Minister for Finance, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, will be in Washington D.C. from 23-26 April 2010, to attend meetings of the IMF's International Monetary and Financial Commitee (IMFC), and the Global Economic Action Roundtable (GEAR[1]) hosted by IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn. Both meetings will discuss current proposals and progress for financial reforms and the global rebalancing of demand.

While in Washington, Minister Tharman will also be engaged in the 5th Bali Dialogue on Climate Change and the United Nations High-Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing (UN AGF) meetings. The meetings will discuss proposals for climate change financing, leading up to the UN's 16th Conference of the Parties (COP 16) in November 2010.
